Our former telefax line
We used an external analogue modem connected
to the PC as telefax. The modem was on power all time, but could not load a
page. The PC was not on power and is equipped with ACPI. When you called our
telefax number, the modem switched on the PC. This one loaded a telefax
receiving program. About 2 minutes after your
telefax call coming in, our PC was ready for receiving. Your telefax could
transmit to us after this timeout by automatically
repeated
call. Additionally our PC loaded the service WinTimer,
which noticed that no user logged in. After a quarter of an hour without
user this service shut down Windows XP. By the means of ACPI our PC
switched off.
